Is it JAMB that offers admission or the university you choose in the course of your registration?
The above question have been a reoccurring question for the past one week and so, We decided to write on it. Our team is sure that at the end of this post, JAMB candidates will be clear on the issue of whether it is the university you choose or JAMB that offer admission.
If you are the type that believes JAMB is responsible for given students Admission, please kill that believe as the institution you choose have a bigger say on who is admitted into her institution.
Let’s see how it works…
Who offers the Admission? University or JAMB
When the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB portal is open for prospective candidates to register, the candidates create their JAMB profile and apply.
After apply for the examination, the candidates begin to prepare towards the success of the examination .
In the course of the preparation, the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB will send the list of candidates who choose a particular university to the institution involved.
After the examination, the university will do their screening and send the list of admitted student for JAMB to upload in their portal. In order word, it is the list sent to JAMB by the University that is uploaded by JAMB in to their website.
The above explanation is why Jamb will sets general cut off marks for all universities, polythecnics and colleges while the institution determines the departmental cut off mark. Little wonder, Jamb candidates after scoring 230 and above will not be given admission even when JAMB cutoff mark is 180.
