The management of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) postgraduate school invites applicants for admission consideration into FUTO under-listed Diploma, Masters and Doctorate Degree programmes for the 2019/2020 session under Regular, Part-Time, Centre for Continuing Education (Weekend), Institute of Women/Gender and Development Studies (IWoGDS), Institute of Erosion Studies (IES) and Public Procurement Research Centre (PPRC).

FUTO Postgraduate Application Form for 2019/2020 — complete guidelines

The Federal University of technology (FUTO) have informed interested candidate that they are expected to pay a non-refundable fee of eleven thousand, three hundred naira (N11,300.00) only at any of the Deposit Money Banks (DMB) through the Remita Gateway on the Postgraduate application platform.

Nature of FUTO Postgraduate Programme

• POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD)

Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department:

• • Higher National Diploma (HND) Lower Credit or above
  • Bachelors Degree in the relevant discipline from FUTO or any other recognized University with at least a Third Class Honours.
  • A good Bachelors Degree with at least Second Class Honours in other related disciplines.

• MASTERS: M.Sc, M.Eng and MPH

Candidates applying for the Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Engineering (M.Eng), and Master of Public Health (MPH) programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department/Institute:

• • A Bachelors degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) qualification in the related area from FUTO or from any other recognized University.
  • A Bachelors degree from a recognized University plus a PGD of not less than 3.00 CGPA on a 5-point scale and a 2.50 CGPA on a 4-point scale in the relevant area.
• However, for M.Sc in Financial Management Technology and Management Technology candidates must possess O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics Economics and any two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Geography.

 

• MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

Candidates applying for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department:

• • A good Honours Degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Management Technology from FUTO or from any other recognized University.
  • Graduates with a Bachelors degree from a recognized University with at least a third-class qualification.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) lower credit or above plus a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant field may apply for the MBA programme.
  • A Bachelors degree in other fields plus a PGD in a relevant field

However, for MBA in Financial Management Technology and Management Technology, candidates must possess O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics Economics and any two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Geography.

• DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

Candidates applying for the PhD programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department/Institute:

1. A Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 point scale or 3.00 on a 4.00 point scale or its equivalent in the relevant areas from FUTO or any recognized University
2. Any other qualification as the University Senate may from time to time recognize/approve.

FUTO POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All candidates applying for any of the following postgraduate programmes must satisfy the basic matriculation requirements including O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics and any other related subjects as required by the Department.

 

Duration of FUTO Postgraduate Programme

1. PhD Programmes: A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters for full-time, and a minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters for part-time students.
2. M.Sc, M.Eng, MPH and MBA Programmes: A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters for full-time, and minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters for part-time students.
3. PGD Programmes: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters for full-time, and minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters for part-time students.
4. Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture (PGD Arch.): Two Semesters of study are required for the degree of Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture (PGD Arch.) for qualified graduates of Bachelor of Technology programme in Architecture with Third Class.
5. Master of Science in Architecture (M.Tech. Arch): Four Semesters of study are required for the degree of Master of Technology in Architecture (M.Tech. Arch) for qualified graduates of the (B. Tech) programme in Architecture.
6. POSTGRADUATE (WEEKEND) Programmes:
   • PGD Programmes: A minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.
   • MBA Programmes: A minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.

Candidates are advised to apply on-line following the procedure given below:

Step 1: Go to the FUTO Website – www.futo.edu.ng

Step 2: Click on Prospective Students.

Step 3: Select the Postgraduate Application

Step 4: Click on the link Apply here

Step 5: Enter your email address

Step 6: Click on Generate Invoice

Step 7: Enter your details and click on submit to generate a payment invoice

Step 8: Print your invoice containing your RRR number (Remita Retrieval Reference) and proceed to the bank for payment or make payment via ATM card.

Step 9: Return to Step 4 above

Step 10: Enter your email address again to complete PG Application form online

Note: Ensure that the referee’s email address supplied is valid as a referee form link would be sent to your referees for completion online.
